Assassin’s Creed III: What we can expect from Ubisoft this time

It’s fair to assume that most of us already played or definitely at least heard of Assassin’s Creed. And some of us are far too familiar with Altair, Ezio and their medieval shenanigans. After four games, each getting a slightly more repetitive than the last, Ubisoft has already announced the fifth, and supposedly the last (don’t think I don’t hear those sighs of relief!) installment to this nail-biting series. Pity I’ve been biting my nails since Brotherhood trying to figure out how the storyline with the magic apple and Juno go… so it’s quite understandable that right now my nails are quite short and oddly shaped.

So before we get to Assassin’s Creed III, let’s take a brief, really brief, run-through of what Ubisoft has thrown at us so far;

  • Assassin’s Creed – The story of Altair.
  • Assassin’s Creed 2 – The story of Ezio Auditore.
  • Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – Unnecessary filler to the story of Ezio Auditore.
  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Even more unnecessary filler to the stories of Altair and Ezio.
  • Assassin’s Creed III – Kill me now!

Well that was the reaction I was expecting from most people regarding Ubisoft’s latest announcement, and I did get it for a while, but a recent image leak has only gotten people more excited about what they can expect this time around. This leak has definitely got Assassins all over the world talking!

One thing common in all the Assassin’s Creed games so far is that it has taken its players on an all-expense paid tour of many of the most scenically beautiful and historically significant locations in medieval Europe. This is one thing about the game that makes it so bloody amazing; you cannot get the kind of immersion you get from Assassin’s Creed in any other game!

But it seems that this time around, Ubisoft has a slight change of plans. And rumor has it that their plans have been leaked; though most probably on purpose. Aha, Ubisoft! I see what you did there…

AC 3 Details
A new hero, a new era and a new war!

But let’s give them the benefit of doubt and believe that a Best Buy employee emailed Kotaku images from the retailer’s employee news section (cough). One of these images say that Ubisoft will be unveiling the new Assassin’s Creed title on March 5th (looks like someone’s trying to steal Mass Effect 3’s thunder… Haw haw, well that’s never gonna happen), and the other is a piece of promotional art which you can see above. Damn that looks quite exciting, doesn’t it?

What we can gather from this is that the game is going to take place during the American Revolution. If Ubisoft manages to play its cards right, and eventually pull this off, the results will be nothing short of incredible!

In the background we can see a clear picture of the Continental flag, and the assassin (with visible essences of Native American culture) in the foreground wearing an 18th-century military jacket. If this is what we can expect to see in Assassin’s Creed III (oh hell, that rhymed!), you can tie me a bow and slap me silly. Hmm, I think I tried too hard there…

Update : Here is the latest Image of Assassin’s creed 3 flying around ..
